Out of all the guest posts that I've written, this may be the one that I'm the most proud of.

I took great care crafting the thesis, title, main points, and body of this post. The title uses several key techniques to make it attractive such as 1) A numbered list 2) The strong word of "Tactics" and 3) It relates immediately to the reader by referring to "the next steep hill" that they will encounter.

As I wrote on GregRidesTrails.com,
The tactics covered in this article don't really address the mental state that you have to assume to be a competent climber, but rather focus on the tangible, technical skills necessary for defeating those nasty-steep hills.

The specific tactics covered are:

  1. Don't wait to shift.
  2. Shift all the way down.
  3. Choose the right line
  4. Keep your butt in the saddle.
  5. Maintain a smooth, circular pedal stroke.
  6. Remember to breathe, and keep loose.
  7. "Row the boat."
"Rowing the boat" is the main point of the article, and I dive into a detailed description of how to do it in order to maintain rear wheel traction.
This article was pretty successful, and it has received 10 comments and 37 likes on Facebook.

Coming soon: Guest post on the #1 Mountain Bike Blog, the Singletracks.com blog.
This is the second part in the short 2-part series on clipless mountain bike pedals.

The second installment covers:
  • What gear you'll need to switch over.
  • 2 crucial skills that you need to know in order to use your new pedals well.

Last Friday I had an article published on Singletracks.com entitled "Making the Switch to Clipless MTB Pedals." It is the first post in a 2-part series on the topic.

The first installment answers 2 questions that a beginner might ask:

  • "What are the benefits to using clipless pedals?"
  • "When should I switch over to clipless pedals?"
If you are a beginning rider and want answers to those questions, go read the full article!

If you are an advanced rider, please feel free to still join the discussion on the topic.

Cheers!

In this guest post entitled "Anatomy of an Endo," I artfully dive into the topic of the picture-perfect mountain bike crash, and my recent experiences with them. In the article I analyze 6 steps:

  1. Cause
  2. Effect
  3. Damage Assessment
  4. Reassessment of the Ride
  5. Reassessment of Sanity
I like the way that I wove my personal experiences into this tongue-in-cheek definition post to create what I think came across as a humorous, entertaining piece.

Grizzly Adam of EpicRiding.com was kind enough to publish it for me. Epic Riding is a relatively large blog in the mountain bike niche, and as of February 13, 2011, 547 people "Like" Epic Riding's Facebook page.
